Today is the Day...

OK, my first blog...why not? My friend Dave challenged me to "blog" my thoughts here so that we could compare notes on our shared quest to lose weight. OK, mine is more to "get healthy" - which I'm saying because not only do I want to lose weight, I want to reduce my dependency on the Mighty French Fry to get me by...and I want to throw in a challenge to myself to exercise more. And drink less beer. And sleep more.

So...to sum up my wish list:

* Learn more about healthy nutrition, start to apply concepts
* Run at least 5 days a week, and add a supplemental weight training exercise 1-2 days/week
* Beer 2-3 times week if possible: believe me, this is a reduction - I wish they had light beer in Beijing!
* Sleep more

Today's so far...

6:00 am - ran 1/2 hour, listening to podcast of Fresh Air. Learned about the fascinating man who wrote a book about growing up in the religious right, stirring up the culture wars on abortion...and then taking it all back: (see link on right in books)
7:15 am - cup of coffee on way to work
10:00 am - 5 Ryvita sesame crackers - like an obsessed crazy person, I was suddenly wracked with hunger all of a sudden...luckily, avoided anything dangerous.
10:30 am - handful of dried cranberries - but belatedly saw on the label they have sugar, bummer.
12:30 am - lunch with Alan Gao, had a chicken wrap, which included bacon, and side salad. Little greasy, not sure it was very healthy...let's see what happens this afternoon...

  1. I ran yest and this morning. It's been so long, I forgot how great you feel during/after running. It seems like it's much easier to do when your bio-clock is waking you up in the wee hours, and there are no children to schedule around!
