This morning's run started out sloooow and cold -- hard to get out of bed, hard to get out the door, hard to loosen up. But the story ends well - I warmed up pretty quickly, got a burst of energy, and watched a few stray snowflakes fall into the slumbering compound. Now, a few hours later, I'm feeling pretty relaxed and mellow. I really like running early in the morning, not just because its quiet and I'm half asleep, also because its just nice to get it over with and not worry about it the rest of the day.
Checking out carbs last night on box labels, kind of frightening. But as I read on the intranet, the real key is to burn more calories than you eat - and in fact it says that over the course of the year, a low carb diet and a low fat diet end up about even. But for a quick jolt and better results early on, low carb appears to win. I'd say I'm on a semi-low-carb diet, semi-successfully, but the bigger issue for me is just plain eating healthier (cutting down on processed foods, adding fruit & veg) and just plan eating less.
And on the good news front, this morning reached for the wrong pants, but decided to try them on anyway as a test...and they fit. They were one size down from other pants. THAT is encouraging news and makes it all worth it, at least this morning :-). Gonna keep going for another day...

Yay Laurie!!! That's even better than a scale!
ReplyDeleteI just got down from my 36 waist to 34. The poor button on my 34s is still stressed out from when I was in denial of gaining weight.
